About us

Who is eligible to compete?
Any man or woman by birth or identification who is a North American citizen or resident and will be 18 years of age or older by the date of the show, is eligible to compete.

 

Do I have to be a resident of the Houston metro to compete?
NO. We offer four categories that are open to North American residents and citizens. They are Electric Chair, Freestyle, Southern Fried Curves and Liquid Motion(R) Floorwork. Can I compete in more than one individual division?
NO. Whether you are a Houston metro resident or from North America at large, you can only compete in one individual division. Nevertheless, you can submit for more than one category to have a greater chance of selection. Be sure to visit www.HoustonPoleMelee.com/how-to-participate to see which category best fits your pole and/or dance expertise.

 

Do I have to submit a video?
YES and NO. The following categories that need video submissions are: Supremes, Extremes, Incredibles, Master’s, Liquid Motion Floorwork, Electric Chair and Southern Fried Curves. The following categories that do not need video submissions are: Freestyle and Studio Showdown. All categories will need payment and an application submission. Will there be a cap on competitors?
YES. We have 36 competitive performance spots. Each category can have a maximum of four (4) slots and an alternate. With the exception of Freestyle and Studio Showdown, each category will be chosen by an online panel. The Freestyle category will be chosen by an online randomizer and Studio Showdown will be confirmed by the first four completed submissions. Top scores and committed participants will be selected for our production.

 

I am 40 years or older, do I have to compete in the Master’s division?
NO. You are eligible to compete in any division that best suits your mastery in pole and/or movement.

 

If I am selected and commit to compete, where do I find information about the competition?
Once selected and committed you will be sent an email with detailed information regarding show itinerary, house rules, deadlines and more.

 

What kind of apparatus will we be performing on?
Our competition will feature two (2), 45mm, chrome/stainless steel finish, 12-foot, professionally mounted, competition poles made by X-Pole USA. They will be distanced from each other between eight and ten (8 and 10) feet. Further details in regards to the performance area will be explained in full to those selected and committed to compete.

 

Will workshops be made available the weekend of the competition?
YES! Our featured headliners will be internationally renowned and award-winning professionals! Neighborhood studios as well as other Texas studios will feature these artists before and/or after the competition! Stay tuned to our website www.HoustonPoleMelee.com for details!

 

How old can you be to enter the venue to view the show?
You must be 18 years or older to attend the show. ID’s will be checked at the door prior to paying or showing proof of purchase. Our venue will have a full bar and food options available throughout the duration of the show, with ample free parking.

 

How much are tickets and when will they go on sale?
Tickets start at $30! There will be options for VIP tables, VIP seats and general admission seating. Standing room tickets will only be available at the door. Tickets will be sold online at www.HoustonPoleMelee.com. After online sales close any remaining ticket sales will be offered at the door via cash and card.

 

Will there be Vendors? Are you accepting Sponsors?

Do you need volunteers for the show?
YES! Our volunteers are the heartbeat of our event. It cannot be run successfully without them. Our volunteer positions include venue runners, pole cleaners, merch sales, hosts, judge assistants and more.
